The German BACKUP Initiative – Education in Africa (BACKUP Education) has been supporting African countries’ efforts to provide high-quality education for all children since 2011. The Initiative is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). BACKUP stands for Building Alliances, Creating Knowledge and Updating Partners.
