There has been a growing interest by education funders to understand how early childhood education impacts a child later on in life. What do children need to know before they start formal schooling?  And, how do these early year skills impact children’s quality of life or academic achievement and income?

Join the Global Partnership for Education’s June numeracy webinar to learn about a project that examines what standards are needed for early childhood education to create effective curriculum, instruction, assessment, and teacher training for early year learning – specifically in mathematics education.

Dr. Linda Platas, from the University of Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education, will discuss this project and the complexity of transforming early learning standards for effective early childhood education. Dr. Platas will describe the opportunities and challenges of this project and present the most useful indicators that measure the learning of mathematical concepts during early childhood.

Access the webinar through Adobe Connect at 10:00 am EDT / 2.00 pm GMT (other time zones): http://worldbankva.adobeconnect.com/numeracywebinar/

The webinar series is part of a Community of Practice on Numeracy facilitated by the Global Partnership for Education. The community of practice is open to teachers, educators, practitioners, researchers, academics and others interested in numeracy.
