Join the September numeracy webinar of the Global Partnership for Education to learn how children in early grades need to develop a “number sense” or intuitive understanding of numbers so that they can succeed in school and higher level mathematics. When children develop a number sense, they have a better understanding of magnitudes of numbers, relationships between numbers, and can then apply this understanding to operations like addition and subtraction.
Aarnout Brombacher will be presenting the Number Sense Workbook Series a series of mathematics workbooks that he and his colleagues developed for use in early grades. Mr. Brombacher will be discussing how the workbooks translate a particular vision of teaching mathematics in the early grades into daily written activities for children. He will also share experiences from South African classrooms where the series is being used and highlight how the series challenges teachers and what it means for them to teach early grade mathematics.
Access the webinar through Adobe Connect at 10:00 am EDT / 2.00 pm GMT
