In November 2017, the Global Partnership for Education Secretariat approved the following grant:
US$205,000 for Lesotho to conduct an education sector analysis
The education sector plan development grant to Lesotho will fund an education sector analysis that will include: a baseline study on teacher and student knowledge and skills to support the implementation of the current education sector program implementation grant (ESPIG); and a service delivery indicator study to look at aspects of education delivery to inform policy dialogue and decision-making. Findings from this study will also be used to update Lesotho’s education sector plan for 2016-2025.
The World Bank has been nominated by the local education group to be the grant agent on behalf of the Government of Lesotho, and UNESCO will serve as coordinating agency.
Education sector plan development grants from the Global Partnership for Education are intended to help countries perform strategic, consultative and analytical work to develop or revise their sector plan. The maximum amount is US$500,000, of which US$250,000 is reserved for education sector analysis, and the remainder can be used for additional studies or to develop sector plan.
