In November 2017, the Global Partnership for Education Secretariat approved the following grant:

US$455,690 for Vanuatu to conduct a comprehensive education sector analysis and develop an evidence-based Education and Training Sector Strategy

The education sector plan development grant to Vanuatu aims to strengthen the knowledge required for the development of more equitable and efficient education sector plan and to build capacity for staff in the Ministry of Education and Training of the country. The analysis will also guide the development of a new Vanuatu Education and Training Sector Strategy (VETSS) for 2019-30.

Out of the total amount, US$254,630 is allocated for the education sector analysis and US$201,060 for the education sector plan development.

UNICEF, a key partner of the Global Partnership for Education, has been nominated by the local education group to be the grant agent on behalf of the Government of Vanuatu.

Education Sector Plan Development Grants from the Global Partnership for Education are intended to help countries perform strategic, consultative and analytical work to develop or revise their sector plan. Of the maximum grant amount of US$500,000, US$250,000 is reserved for education sector analysis, and the remainder for additional studies or to develop the sector plan.
