Statement by the Board Chair of the Global Partnership for Education

During its meeting in Dakar, Senegal from December 9 to 10, 2015, the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education endorsed a new Strategic Plan and Results Framework for the period 2016 to 2020.

The new Strategic Plan sets out the contributions the Global Partnership for Education will make to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals over the coming five years, focusing in particular on the new Global Goal for education.

At its retreat in October 2015, the Board of Directors agreed to align the impact and financing of the Global Partnership over the five-year period of the Strategic Plan with the new Global Goals. The new level of ambition of the Global Goals is reflected in the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the new Strategic Plan.

The new Results Framework will be used by all partners to monitor achievements and ensure mutual accountability for results.

The Global Partnership for Education will continue to work closely with the Finance Commission on Global Education Opportunities and the Working Group on Education in Emergencies and Protracted Crises.

Finally, I am honored to be reappointed Board Chair for a further three years.

The Global Partnership is united to deliver the Global Goal of a quality education for all.
