Investment in quality education in Ethiopia gets a US$100 million boost from GPE

Joining hands with other donors to improve the quality of education in Ethiopia, GPE pledged US$100 million to the country, particularly for elementary education. Ethiopia is working hard to bring more quality to the education sector and to mitigate the shortage of teachers. 

Though the country has a compulsory policy of offering primary education in nationality languages, a large number of children are out of school and the education system still faces persistent challenges. The government hopes to invest in early grade education and recruit trained teachers.
