School girls in Jigawa State, Nigeria, get stipend to encourage girls' education

Funded by GPE, the project aims to increase basic education for girls in the state and discourage parents from engaging in child labour that prevents girls from going to school. The Executive Chairman of the education board in Jigawa State, Nigeria, announced that arrangement is underway to pay N19,000 to each girl in primary and junior secondary school for every term, and N40,000 to parents who enroll their daughters in school.
