Search for independent member of the GPE Finance and Risk Committee

The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is pleased to announce a call for nominations for an independent member of the Finance and Risk Committee (FRC). This call for nominations provides an opportunity for interested candidates to nominate himself/herself for the Committee.

The Finance and Risk Committee is a standing committee established by the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education, which oversees risk management practices, financial management and audit arrangements of GPE and its resources; provides advice to the Board to ensure that GPE resources are being managed efficiently, and consistently with its mission, objectives and policies.

FRC members (a) perform a monitoring and oversight role over GPE's financing, funding, and risk, and (b) where delegated authority by the Board, make decisions in the best interest of GPE, to achieve the strategic plan adopted by the Board. As applicable, they use their best endeavors to consult with their constituency category before committee meetings, prepare for and attend all meetings unless there is a notified and valid reason not to do so, and actively participate and contribute during meetings.

The FRC is composed of a Chair, and eight (8) to ten (10) members.

The committee terms of reference (TORs) are available in English and French.

The TOR provides for an option to appoint one independent member from outside the GPE constituencies, in the case of a gap in the specialized skills of the Committee members. In addition to the required skills, knowledge, and experience, the independent FRC member will specifically bring experience and competency in assurance processes, including internal and external audit, preferably in a similar international organization, partnership and/or fund. Experience in innovative finance and trust fund management would be considered an advantage.

Candidates for the independent member role must fulfill the independence criteria set out as Annex B to the TOR (included below, for ease of reference). Qualified female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Regional balance on the Committee will also be a consideration in the selection of the independent member.

This position is non-remunerated. All committee meetings are held in virtual format. However, should there be an exceptional in-person meeting, the Secretariat may provide, upon request, funding from GPE resources for the attendance of the independent member, in accordance with the Secretariat’s policies.

How to apply

  • Nominations should be submitted through an online form that is available in English and French.
  • Candidates will be requested to provide a Bio (one hundred words), an updated resume/CV, and a statement of interest.
  • All applications should be submitted as early as possible and no later than July 15.
  • The Executive Committee of the GPE Board will consider and review nominations received and will provide a recommendation on the best suited candidate for subsequent approval by the Board of Directors.
