On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Spain announced that it will contribute €20 million for 2024-2025 to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

This brings Spain’s total contribution for the strategic period 2021-2025 to €25 million, an increase of €5 million beyond their initial pledge at the Global Education Summit in 2021, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to GPE.

Of this funding, €3 million will be directed to GPE’s Girls’ Education Accelerator, which supports gender equality in countries where girls’ education has been identified as a challenge.

Another €5 million will be dedicated to GPE support in the West Bank and Gaza, underscoring Spain’s dedication to education in conflict-affected areas.

Spain’s leadership role on global education demonstrates its commitment to education as a powerful tool for tackling global challenges like climate change, social inequalities, and the promotion of more resilient, equitable and stable societies, and making a difference in the lives of millions of children worldwide.
