While President Macri of Argentina and Canada’s Prime Minister Trudeau responded to Rihanna, there was no immediate response from Paris. Instead of tweeting, President Macron invited Rihanna to the Élysée Palace this Wednesday to spend time with him and the First Lady of France discussing education and the replenishment of the Global Partnership for Education.

Both Rihanna and President Macron reverted back to Twitter to express their appreciation for the meeting adding a call to action to address the challenge of education financing.

Rihanna was not the only international superstar and humanitarian President Macron met that week. Bono also had the opportunity to meet the recently elected President and Mrs Macron wherein the French President reiterated his commitment to reach 0.55% of GDP for overseas development assistance by 2022, and agreed that focusing on education was an important investment in the eradication of extreme poverty.

The Global Partnership for Education works in partnership with Global Citizen and the Clara Lionel Foundation to support Rihanna’s role as GPE’s Global Ambassador.
