The webinar will be presented by Shirin Lutfeali, senior specialist for basic education at Save the Children. She will discuss Save the Children’s Numeracy Boost program which aims to improve students’ math achievement through targeted activities both inside the classroom and in the community through math camps, parent awareness sessions, and family math days. Numeracy Boost is being piloted in Bangladesh, Malawi and Pakistan.
The webinar is part of a Community of Practice on Numeracy facilitated by the Global Partnership for Education. It is open to teachers, educators, practitioners, researchers, academics and others interested in numeracy.

Why a community of practice on numeracy?
3 out of 10 children in developing countries complete primary school without the basics of numeracy.
Bring together a group dedicated to working on numeracy issues in developing countries, including the development of early grade mathematics assessments, teacher training, classroom interventions, parent and community awareness.
Connect practitioners, academics, teachers, graduate students, among others, working on numeracy, with a special emphasis on work in developing countries.
Showcase members. A special feature of the community of practice is a monthly webinar series which serves as a vehicle for members to share good practices, research, have discussions on numeracy, and network with others in the field. The monthly webinars take place every first Wednesday of the month, where a member from the community presents on a numeracy/math education topic. This is followed by an online discussion throughout the month where community members can access the presenter’s webinar presentation and other related content. The presenter is also available for any questions from members.
