Creating fiscal space for school meals: Towards Agenda 2063, SDGs and human capital development

The annual meetings of the African Development Bank Group present a unique opportunity for knowledge dissemination among high-level decision makers in Africa, key officials of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, leading academics and representatives of non-governmental organizations, civil society, and the private sector.

This high-level side event - organized by the AfDB, Rockefeller Foundation, the Global Partnership for Education, the African Leaders for Nutrition Secretariat and the World Food Programme – aims to provide a platform to discuss the opportunities for countries to mobilize sustainable financing for expanding school meal programs in Africa.

Speakers will provide forward-looking recommendations on how partnerships between governments, international financial institutions, the philanthropic sector and civil society can support governments’ efforts to expand their fiscal space to support the needed scale-up of school meal programs.

GPE Board Chair President Jakaya Kikwete will speak during this event.
