Education, a key tool to address the challenges of the Lake Chad region

This week the federal government of Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin Commission, with the support of UNESCO, organized a three-day conference on Lake Chad. During this conference, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, Getachew Engida said that education is the sustainable tool that will resolve the humanitarian, insecurity and agricultural problems of this region. He also added that UNESCO is working with countries on the borders of this region to develop new curricula and train educators in an effort to empower women, girls and citizens.
