Beijing held the second World Philanthropy Forum on November 29 to promote academic exchange and policy advocacy around the world, in which GPE Board Chair Julia Gillard participated. She noted that the world has much to learn from the progress achieved by China in the education sector in the past five years, and this experience could be helpful to developing countries around the world. China's focus on science, technology, engineering and math is also impressive, and Gillard said that girls in particular would benefit from being prompted to study STEM subjects.
