The Jigawa state government in Nigeria is showing its commitment to quality education by working with the Global Partnership for Education to build and renovate classrooms, in addition to providing desks and chairs. The education sector received US$3.5 million in grant from GPE. This progress includes more robust data collection for better decision-making and program planning, as well as the recruitment of additional teachers who specialize in English and science.

GPE's support is aimed at increasing enrollment of girls, with several programs introduced to allocate financial assistance to mothers to keep their daughters in school, and to teachers to seek further professional training. The government is working with civil society organizations and development partners to sensitize parents to send their children to school.
