Yasmin Sitabkhan

Yasmin Sitabkhan is currently finishing her PhD in Education at the University of California, Berkeley. Yasmin began her career as a preschool and elementary school teacher in Oaxaca, Mexico and Los Angeles, California. As a teacher, she became interested in the teaching and learning of early numeracy, and enrolled in a PhD program at UC Berkeley. Yasmin has conducted research in India and Mexico, investigating marginalized children’s learning of mathematical and economic understandings in out-of-school settings. She focuses on early numeracy education, early childhood development, out-of-school learning, and relationships between culture and learning.
