Transforming education in Jordan

Jordan has achieved universal basic education for both boys and girls. Most children are enrolled at the basic education level, but enrollment is significantly lower at the kindergarten and secondary levels.

Additionally, the massive influx of refugees since the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011 has increased the demand for education and presents multiple challenges that must be addressed to provide access to education for all.

Jordan’s Education Sector Plan 2018-2025 defines national education priorities – early childhood education and development; access and equity; system strengthening; quality; human resources; and vocational education – and strategies to reach objectives.

In 2025, the Ministry of Education, through support of education partners including GPE, will develop a new sector plan. Jordan is committed to providing strong domestic financial support to the education sector.

To unlock transformational change, the country is working with GPE and partners to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all school-aged children, including refugees and other vulnerable groups.
