The global shortage of teachers—exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and long simmering teacher frustrations with poor pay and working conditions—has cast a stark light on the existential threats to education that we can no longer afford to ignore.

Having first-hand knowledge of what education reforms must address, teachers are vital to ensuring that children’s learning needs are met in the classroom. Hence, the core frustrations faced by teachers worldwide need immediate attention.

This series of blogs features experts and practitioners' views about the importance of investing in qualified and well supported teachers, and what works and can be done to transform education.
