Today is World Humanitarian Day, an occasion to advocate for humanitarian action and to promote solidarity with the more than 130 million people around the world who are in need of humanitarian assistance.
This year’s theme is “One Humanity”, a theme highlighted at the World Humanitarian Summit last May in Istanbul, where nations committed to improve aid delivery to those affected by conflicts and crises.
Recognizing that education should be prioritized during humanitarian action, Education Cannot Wait, a global fund to provide education in emergencies, was launched at the summit.
Education Cannot Wait complements GPE’s mission and strengthens its commitment to support education in countries going through humanitarian emergencies and crises.
Today, let’s redouble our efforts so that children in difficult circumstances can continue to go to school and learn.
