The Gambia's application for US$5 million COVID-19 funding to support the Government in undertaking the activities in its emergency education strategy, anchored to its broader National Response Plan under the leadership of the Ministry of Health.

The Education Sector Response Plan has the objectives of ensuring that children and their families have access to relevant and timely information on COVID-19 to protect themselves from infection and reduce the transmission rate within communities; enhancing speedy recovery from the impact of COVID-19 on the education sector and improving the resilience of the sector; and ensuring continuity of learning during the school closure and progressively expanding curriculum coverage using multiple curriculum delivery platforms in the medium to long-term.
