The Rwandan Ministry of Education will Host the EFA FTI Spring Meetings
From May 16 -19, 2011 Kigali will be the host of important EFA FTI Spring meetings. The newly-established EFA FTI Financial Advisory Committee (FAC) will hold on Monday 16 May its first ever in-person meeting and will be followed by the spring meeting of the EFA FTI Board of Directors on Wednesday and Thursday 18-19 May. An optional visit to a local school in Kigali is scheduled in the morning of Tuesday 17 May and is open to all members of the EFA FTI Board of Directors and Financial Advisory Committee.
The Role of the EFA FTI Financial Advisory Committee
The EFA FTI Financial Advisory Committee, which currently operates on an interim basis, serves in an advisory role to the EFA FTI Board of Directors on certain financial issues. Among other responsibilities, the FAC will oversee the formulation and implementation of policies for eligibility and prioritization of Education for All Fund resources, review requests and make recommendations to the EFA FTI Board of Directors for allocations in support of Education Sector Plan implementation of endorsed developing countries. The Chair of the EFA FTI Board of Directors, Ms. Carol Bellamy, is serving as FAC interim chair until a new Chair can be selected. The appropriate size of the committee, as well as the future of the chairing of the committee, will be discussed at the in-person meeting on Monday 16 May in Kigali, Rwanda.
Spring Meeting of the EFA FTI Board of Directors
The spring meeting of the EFA FTI Board of Directors will cover an ambitious agenda that includes a broad range of issues ranging from the proposed EFA FTI’s three new policy priorities (focus on learning outcomes, gender parity and fragile states) to the review of prioritization criteria for allocation of FTI resources and the new results-based replenishment strategy. Other important topics will include a possible rebranding of the EFA FTI Partnership, administrative and governance issues and, last but not least, the review of on-going in-country operations.
