In October 2017, the Global Partnership for Education Secretariat approved the following grant:

US$329,400 for Tajikistan for education sector analysis and development of the education action plan with the end date of December 31, 2018

The education sector plan development grant to Tajikistan has been split between two grant agents. US$133,400 has been allocated with UNICEF as grant agent. This part of the grant will help the Ministry of Education explore the options for moving to 12 years of education in 2020 by financing analysis and costing three potential scenarios. This grant will also finance the development of the education action plan 2018-2020.

Tajikistan has also been granted US$196,000 with the World Bank as grant agent. This part of the grant will help Tajikistan conduct an analysis of different early childhood education and care models which could guide the Government's plans to increase pre-school (3-6 years old) coverage from 12% in 2016 to 40% in 2030.

Education Sector Plan Development Grants from the Global Partnership for Education are intended to help countries perform strategic, consultative and analytical work to develop or revise their sector plan. Of the maximum grant amount of US$500,000, US$250,000 is reserved for education sector analysis, and the remainder for additional studies or to develop the sector plan.
