Hoa Tran Ringrose joined the GPE Country Support Team as a Senior Education Specialist and Country Lead for Pakistan – Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – Uzbekistan and until very recently Afghanistan. Hoa brought to the Global Partnership more than three decades of experience working in the National Ministry of Education and Training, Academia, UNICEF, Plan International and other UN agencies (UNDP, UNESCO, UN Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction).

Hoa’s work in education spans policy advocacy, fund raising, program design, high level advice, and technical assistance in teacher development, student-centered teaching strategies, girls’ education, early childhood development, curriculum design, education system reform, education in emergencies, multi-lingual education, non-formal education and disaster risk reduction.

In her many roles as program manager, regional education chief, policy advisor, and champion for gender equality and student-centered teaching strategies, she has led policy dialogue and provided technical leadership in twenty countries in Eastern Europe, West Africa, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Hoa was awarded a scholarship for her Bachelor’s degree in Moscow State University for Foreign Languages. She was the first Vietnamese national granted scholarship to pursue graduate studies in the USA in the post-American war period when there were no diplomatic relations between the two countries. Hoa received her Master’s and Ph.D. in education leadership and policy from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
