Teresa is responsible for overseeing the management of FAWE programs and provides technical leadership in the implementation of the FAWE strategy. She also supports the Executive Director in managing FAWE’s operations.

A lawyer by profession, Teresa has more than 17 years of professional experience with various International Non-Governmental Organizations in the area of governance and human rights with specific bias on women and children rights. Her career has been dedicated to not-for-profit organizations, dedicating her legal work to advocating for access to justice for women and children at minimal or no cost. Her skills set includes mobilization of financial and human resources towards improving the lives of girls and women and is a firm believer in ending any form of discrimination against girls and women.

Before joining FAWE Africa, Teresa was the Executive Director of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Kenya. She has also served as the Executive Director of the Gender Violence and Recovery Centre (GVRC) of Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Program Manager Women Empowerment Program at the International Rescue Centre (IRC) Kenya and Deputy Executive Director at Transparency International Kenya.

Teresa has Master’s degree in Law from Georgetown University Washington D.C (USA) and Master’s in Gender and Development and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi. She is a Chevening Fellow on Gender, Social Development and Citizenship (University College of London, UK) and a Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa Fellow (2017) Georgetown University Washington DC (USA). She is also a trained professional mediator, member of FIDA Kenya and the Law Society of Kenya.
